The course teaches you to implement controls for sharps and infectious waste hazards, safe disposal of sharps and infectious waste, and documentation relevant to your workplace.
On the certificate, no recommended renewal period is identified; employers are advised to consult stakeholders.
Course Requirements
Physical capability to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills.
Students must have access to a computer, smart phone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online studies and practical assessment.
Course Certification
On successful completion of this lesson you will be awarded the following certificates as a digital copy.
Course Delivery
1 hour self-paced online learning followed by a 1 hour (minimum) face-to-face assessment.
Course Syllabus
Performance tasks and practical scenarios:
- Basic disposal of a single exposed sharp.
- Complex disposal of multiple exposed and hidden sharps.
- Disposal of infectious waste.
- Complete a risk assessment.
- A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.
